Sopot „Stronghold”

Sopot „Stronghold”

The „Stronghold” is the oldest monument of Sopot - a remnant of a defensive settlement from the 8th to 10th century, located on a moraine hill in the heart of the city.

On a picturesque hill, right next to today's cafés, hotels and sandy beaches, an early medieval settlement has been recreated. A wooden palisade, a fortified gate, thatched cottages - everything looks as it might have looked in the times of the ancient Pomeranians. Not only can you stroll through the reconstructions, but you can also take a look inside the huts, where exhibitions of old tools, weapons and everyday objects await you.

This place is particularly delightful for families with children - the farm with friendly goats always attracts the youngest, and for the older ones there are pottery workshops, demonstrations of ancient crafts and re-enactments of historical battles. In the summer, the Grodzisko is vibrant with life: festivals, outdoor events and sometimes even evening shows in atmospheric lighting are organised here.

And most importantly, it is all just a few minutes' walk from the heart of Sopot and the Hotel Villa Sedan. It's perfect for a quiet morning, a family afternoon or an original break from the beach.
